I’m a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal. I love wearing dresses for a special occasion but when it comes to weekly date nights, I opt for something called edgy chic. Okay, I just made that up but that’s really the best way to describe what I’m going for. One of my go-to clothing items is my faux leather jacket from Zara (old / similar here and here). You guys know I love structured jackets from this post and this beauty gives me just the right amount of edge. It makes me look age appropriate (because of this struggle) and gives off a fun vibe for date night.
It’s so easy for me to dress in all black. It’s the best color to look older / not be compared to a teenager. But I’ve slowly been trying to add color to my wardrobe. The easies way to do that is with a fun top. This BP cold shoulder top is perfect to break up the dark color scheme and comes in a variety of different colors.
You can never go wrong with a dark wash denim and this Frame Denim pair (more affordable pair here) has just the right amount of stretch. This is my second Frame Denim pair and they’ve quickly become one of my favorite jean brands. True to size, great stretch up top and super soft denim. I’ve come to realize that I’d rather spend extra money on one pair of really good jeans. I’ve had several pairs in the past that would be more affordable but none ever fit me quite right.
The ultimate date night look wouldn’t be complete without shoes! These Sam Edelman pointed shoes have quickly taken over my wardrobe and are so comfortable to walk in. I also like that they’re not super tall so I’m not towering over Greg, ha! For this look I also grabbed my *really old* Marc by Marc Jacobs Hobo bag (similar here). It ties in well with the leather jacket and shoes and fits an umbrella for spring showers. Not that I really have to carry a lot of stuff around for date night. It’s more so to complete the look. You feel me.
Basically, my ultimate date night look includes making myself look older (pointed leather heels) and cooler (leather jacket) than I really am, ha! Add a few pieces of jewelry and I’m ready for a night out. What’s your favorite date night combination? Are you with me on the jeans or do you opt for something more feminine?
