Why A Denim Jacket Is A Summer Staple

I tend to get into ruts with my wardrobe. I’ll wear the same type of clothing over and over again until I’m ready to explore again. I then find something that I haven’t worn in forever and think to myself “I should totally wear this more often!”. Case in point, the denim jacket. In elementary school I was obsessed with a denim jacket. I wore it all the time and I completely forgot how versatile it is! My current denim jacket from J.Crew has been with me since the beginning of college. I recently took it out of my closet as I was looking for a jacket that wasn’t too warm for the summer – but also not a cardigan. I’m trying to get away from the cardigan and evolve a bit… A leather jacket is too hot for humid summer days and then I thought: Why not a denim jacket?!

Over the past two months, it’s been my go-to jacket for every occasion. I wear it casually with jogger pants, t-shirt and slip-on shoes, or like in this post, pair it with this loose dress and my favorite platform sandals. I think that’s my favorite combination so far. It’s fun, casual and summery with the sandals.

I’m notorious to get ridiculously cold inside restaurants and other establishments. As much as I appreciate the AC blasting on a humid summer day, I will start shivering inside in no time. Hence the denim jacket being a summer staple. The denim fabric is perfect for those moments as it provides just the right amount of warmth.

My denim jacket has a loose fit and I’m looking to add a more fitted one to my closet. I’m thinking a white denim jacket needs to find it’s way to me. Do you have any favorite stores or brands you recommend? With 4th of July sales right around the corner, I might get lucky and snag one up!
