Customization has become the new standard in many products but I’d never heard of customized haircare until I got introduced to Function of Beauty. A shampoo and conditioner that’s specifically formulated for my hair? I knew I had to give this a try…
Function of Beauty offers a personalized haircare system by letting you answer specific questions, such as what your hair type is and what your hair concerns + goals are. You also get to fully customize the name on the bottle, the scent and color of the products. It really doesn’t get much more personalized than that.
The shampoo and conditioner are both formulated with 99% natural ingredients, cruelty-free, 100% vegan and without parabens or sulfates. Pretty impressive considering the cost for an 8oz. set is $26 plus free shipping.
The products get sent to you with a little brochure explaining what you filled out in the questionnaire along with how many times you should wash your hair. I think that’s a nice touch for someone who’s not too familiar with what’s best for their hair type. In my hair profile I mentioned that my hair is naturally curly and frizzy and that one of my goals is to keep it hydrated. I did not want any volume as my curls do a good job on their own with providing me volume.
I’ve been using the Function of Beauty haircare line for a few weeks now and have enjoyed knowing I’m putting good ingredients into my hair. The shampoo lathers up nicely while the conditioner feels very moisturizing in the ends of my hair. I will say that I don’t like the scent that I chose (white tea + jasmine) purely because it doesn’t smell like it at all. I checked the ingredients and saw that there’s peppermint in my combination so I think that overpowered my scent choice. Nonetheless I’m very impressed with how Function of Beauty is able to offer full customization at an affordable price. It certainly makes washing your hair more luxurious when it’s products were specifically designed for you – and has your name on it. Love that.
Have you tried out customized haircare products before? If so, what has your experience been with it?
