It’s been a HOT minute since I’ve written a blog post. Many (!) personal reasons went into why I stopped but essentially: It became a chore I wasn’t looking forward to doing. The pressure I put on myself to succeed as a “blogger” in a world full of “influencer saturation” was getting to me and I realized, I didn’t want to be a “blogger”. I’ve really come to hate that word over the years.
As soon as I decided to stop blogging (for the time being) I FELT SO MUCH BETTER! I hadn’t realized how much my blog was stressing me out and for the first time in a long time I felt like I could devote my energy to other things.
I recognized the negative pattern I had fallen into with blogging, the comparison game, the NUMBERS game (…), the keeping up with the Jones’ – all of it. While it was a very hard decision to, what felt like at the time, “give up” on my blog, it had to be done. I remember meeting with my therapist the first week I stopped blogging and she could tell a dark cloud had been lifted from me.
Taking that time away allowed me to connect with why I started my blog in the first place. And as the generic blogger answer goes: I wanted my own personal outlet! I wanted a place where I could share my thoughts on products and experiences – and maybe it would resonate with someone out there as well.
Where I’ve been
So what have I been up to since May of 2018? Travel wise, I went to Charlottesville for my Birthday in June. Then Greg and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary with a trip to Toronto in July – my first time in Canada, eh! September took us to Amsterdam where the highlight was a private canal boat cruise and so much good food.
The last quarter of the year was focused on my new business venture that I’ll share soon and my Youtube channel. Lots of filming, editing and uploading. And I loved every minute of it!
I’m excited for 2019. I love a good refresh and opening up a crisp new planner. I’ve got lots of goals for 2019 and one of those things was to “casually” blog again. No pressure, no crazy publish schedule, just me sharing good stuff with you when it happens. My goal is one-two blog posts a week. I know, I’m aiming real high here. But slow and steady wins the race friends.
