Something that I don’t think gets talked much about is the recovery after a workout so I wanted to share a few thoughts on it in my May fitness files. I’ve been feeling pretty tense and sore lately (more than usual) and my first Pilates Reformer class has added another level of pain to my core and inner thighs that I didn’t think was possible. As I’m in LA for Create & Cultivate this weekend I really wanted to go to The Now Massage and help my muscles recover.
I stumbled upon them through Instagram (because stalking) and I fell in love with their mission and well, their decor is to die for. I try to get a massage every few months as it helps my posture and makes me relax without any distractions. I initially booked the Stretch massage but then switched to the Traveller because it’s inspired by the deep tissue massage.
I have a foam roller that I use from time to time but it certainly doesn’t compare to getting an actual massage. My masseuse did an excellent job at focusing on the areas I wanted her to and the desert decor added so much to the relaxing atmosphere. They also had a beautiful selection of crystals and aromatherapy oils with sounds of the ocean playing in the background. Talk about living in the now!
When I need a quick fix and can’t get a massage I also love using a tennis ball to ease the tension in my shoulders. I stand next to a wall and move in circular motion with the ball behind my back and it feels painfully amazing. And yes it looks ridiculous but I don’t care, it feels too good!
