Monochromatic Feelings

I know, I know… I said I’m trying to bring more color into my wardrobe (cue this blog post) but I can’t deny my feelings for an all black look – with a hint of white. They’re colors…right?! I feel most comfortable in black because it’s dramatic, flattering and classic. It’s what I gravitate towards when I’m stumped on what to wear and with the weather dipping into the 30’s again, it’s only appropriate to wear all black. And yes, I did freeze my hands off while shooting this.

I’m really into high collared blouses and love the white tie closure with the tapered sleeves on this one. I picked it up from Primark a few years ago and found a few similar ones here and here. I paired it with my Everlane loafers and my black Nordstrom leggings.

When wearing an all black look, I like to spruce it up with a different hairstyle and some jewelry. I wanted to give the look some edginess with my natural curls (yes, that’s them) and give it dimension. I sprayed a bit of the Ouai Wave Spray in my damp hair, scrunched it up a bit with my fingers and let Mother Nature do the rest. I’m not one to wear my natural curls a lot because I like brushing my hair. But on some days I just don’t have the energy or commitment to straighten my hair so the curls win.

My wardrobe is filled with monochromatic feelings. Black and white – the grey scale – is what works with virtually everything and always looks put together. Yes, I’m trying to bring more vividness into my closet but if you ask me, that high collar is pretty vivid. What color do you steer towards in your closet? Are you with me on the grey scare or do you prefer bright colors?
