Summer Beauty Favorites

With summer in full swing I reach for a few beauty products to keep me cool and collected in this humid weather. I’m the first to admit that it’s hard to look ‘presentable’ when it feels like a sauna outside but there are a few summer beauty favorites that make me keep trying.

The Honest Beauty Everything Primer is one of my favorite beauty finds this year. It has a slight natural looking tint to it with a hint of glow and a scent that I’m in love with. Filled with hyaluronic acid and peony root it adds moisture and plumpness to the skin and provides a luminous base to your skin. I even like wearing it just on it’s own when I want a minimal makeup look.

I started using the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer this year and have to say that I like it more than the Laura Mercier one. I know, I can’t believe I’m saying writing this. It has SPF 30  – which is incredible to find in a tinted moisturizer – and has a natural light coverage. It’s perfect at covering up any redness and just generally evening out the skin while looking like you’re not wearing anything at all. It’s gel like consistency feels light on the skin and blends beautifully. It’s become part of my daily makeup routine because it’s just so easy.

I hate using powder but in the summer I can’t seem to get around it. It holds my tinted moisturizer and concealer in place while also making sure I don’t get mascara all over. I’ve been using the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural for years and it’s still my favorite pressed powder. Very natural, not heavy and a wide selection of shade ranges (I’m in the shade medium). Plus it lasts you FOREVER.

Ok hear me out. Imagine a nice glowing tan, beachy wavy hair, minimal makeup and just a bit of this Milani Eyeshadow Quad in ’01 Milan’ on the eyelids. I’m not a glittery person. Like, at all. But this one gives you a beautiful wet look on the lids that makes you feel like a summer goddess. I dab the two darker shades together on the lid with my fingertips to create an easy summery look and I’m ready to head out the door.

Me and face sprays have this magical, magical relationship (you can read more about that here). They refresh and hydrate my face, take down any excess powder and set my makeup. The Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Spray is coconut water based which softens the skin and is the perfect pick me up on a hot and humid day. Along with the face spray I don’t go anywhere without blotting papers. They’re meant to take off the excess oil on your face while still keeping your makeup on. They’re way better than any facial tissue you’ll ever use and are completely worth it. Trust me.

That’s a wrap on all of my summer beauty favorites! Now tell me, what beauty products get you through a hot summer day?
