Catrice Cosmetics Review featured by top US beauty blog, VicilovesWhen I was in Germany last October I was really excited to get my hands on Catrice Cosmetics. They’re an affordable drugstore brand available in Europe – and since last year also available in the US at ULTA! I came home with several products that I have been putting to the test over these past few months and I thought it’s time for a Catrice Cosmetics review.

Catrice Cosmetics Review

Catrice Prime + Fine Smoothing Refiner: This product refines your skin, blurs out your pores and makes your face feel super smooth. It has a cream consistency and blends seamlessly into the skin. It’s quite moisturizing and preps your face really nicely for your foundation. I wear this when I need my foundation to look flawless for an event or my skin feels a little bit uneven. Very nice!

Catrice Camouflage Cream: This reminds me so much of the Benefit Boi-ing full coverage concealer because it has that same creamy opaque coverage. I use this sparingly on any small blemishes and blend it out with my fingers to get the desired coverage. For me personally it’s a bit too heavy but if you like a full coverage concealer, this will be right up your alley. The only negative is that it can dry out quickly if you don’t close the lid properly. Guilty, party of one…

Catrice Eyebrow Set: This is one of my favorite Catrice products as the lighter color is the perfect brow color for me and it comes with a little mirror. It comes with two brow powders and a second compartment that has a small brow brush and tweezers. Super convenient for traveling and affordable – it doesn’t get much better.

Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette: I featured this in my Valentine’s Day makeup tutorial as it has a good selection of rose colored shades. The shadows are a little too powdery and not pigmented enough for my taste but you can definitely build them up nicely – especially if you wet them with a makeup spray. If you don’t want to splurge on a higher end eyeshadow palette you will fare well with this one.

Catrice Made To Stay Highlighter Pen: I specifically bought this to highlight the inner corners of my eye and the area below my brow bone. At first it looks blotchy but as soon as you blend it out it gives a subtle rose golden shimmer. I actually prefer to put some on the back of my hand first and then rub it into my fingers and apply it that way. It prevents coming off to strong on your face and you can target the areas you want to highlight better. For me the only downside is that it does’t blend to eavenly so I try to go in with a light hand to prevent that.

Catrice Defining Blush: Highly pigmented and a very flattering shade (Sunrise on the Avenue). I’ve worn this blush to death and it still looks like I’ve barely touched it. The formula is more opaque than the Illuminating blush and I’m tempted to check out more colors in this range. It blends out well and lasts a good amount of time on my cheeks. I think this is a great drugstore blush option if you don’t want to spend the money on an Hourglass blush.

Catrice Illuminating Blush: The idea behind this blush is fantastic as it has shimmery particles built into the blush, kind of like crossing a highlighter with a blush. I love the nude color as I can wear this with pretty much anything and it does highlight my cheeks in a subtle way. It’s not as pigmentend as I’d like it to be and also doesn’t stay on my cheeks too long but – I still really like the blush on days when I don’t want to wear too much makeup.

Catrice Ultimate Color Lipstick: I picked up this beautiful deep plum shade called Plum Fiction – let’s remember I was there back in October – and was curious to see how it wore. Even though the color is stunning it’s a disappointing product to me. It’s one of those scenarios where the lipstick is ultra moisturizing yet doesn’t stay on your lips at all. It smears quite easily and I haven’t worn it a lot because I will just end up with lipstick all over my face. Not a cute look.

Those were all of the things I picked up for my Catrice Cosmetics review! I tried to incorporate something from every category even though I didn’t give their foundation a try. They only had matte finishes available and with my dry skin I like more of a dewy foundation finish…

With any cosmetics brand you get some amazing and some not so amazing products but overall I think Catrice Cosmetics gives a solid performance. Next time I’m at Ulta I’m definitely stopping by their display, I hear their lip glosses are really nice :-)
