For this years summer vacation Greg and I decided to do something a bit more special since it was also going to be our first wedding anniversary! It’s crazy to think I’m 25 and have already been married for a full year but here we are…
A friend of mine had gone to St. Lucia on her honeymoon and from the pictures it looked like a dream. We stayed at the Viceroy Hotel Sugar Beach and got a great deal online since it’s considered the off season right now. I was actually glad we were there in the off season – not as crowded and still magnificent weather. We only had one day of rain throughout the whole trip and were still able to hang out at the beach. There’s something about a tropical rainstorm that’s just pure bliss.
The room itself had a gorgeous white interior with an attached terrace and small plunge pool. We had never stayed at a Viceroy Hotel before and were loving the design aesthetic, furniture and overall look of the resort.
Tip: When you’re celebrating a special occasion while on vacation, ALWAYS let the hotel know. Chances are they’ll upgrade you to a bigger room and / or give you an arrival treat ;)
I know that there’s a bunch of activities you can do on St. Lucia but honestly, we just wanted to relax and hang out by the water. We had all sorts of adventures on our honeymoon last year that we decided to take it easy and just enjoy the moment. One day we did venture off property and ate lunch at the Ladera Resort. It’s higher up in the mountains and provided stunning views for us. There also was a rainforest walk right on our property that we explored on our last day. I’d never been to one before and it was fun to go on a chill walk. Oh and we did a whale / dolphin watching cruise – that was fun :)
St. Lucia is truly a honeymoon island and I totally understand why every couple wants to come here: beautiful sunsets, clear waters and perfect temperatures. At night we’d here the animals in the rainforest which made it such a peaceful and serene place. I had never been to the caribbean before and I was surprised how high the prices were. Nevertheless that didn’t stop us from consuming a lot of cocktails and yummy seafood. I’d definitely go back to St. Lucia because we had such a lovely time. The only problem is that there’s too many other islands to explore in the caribbean – choices upon choices!
Have you been to St. Lucia?
