Travel Makeup Bag: Beach Edition

While I was organizing and packing for my beach trip last week I thought it’d be fun to share what I brought along in my travel makeup bag: beach edition! I love seeing what other people pack because it gives me ideas for the next time I’m on the road again. I didn’t wear any makeup while I was lying out at the beach but when it was time to get ready later in the day I reached for the following products:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

It provides me with the right amount of coverage, is lightweight, moisturizing and has SPF 20. I seriously couldn’t ask for a better tinted moisturizer. I’ve been using it all summer long and can’t recommend this one enough. I did a separate review on this here if you want to check it out.

Revlon Colorstay Concealer

I’ve been trying out this new concealer and honestly, I’m not the biggest fan. It conceals your under eye area but it doesn’t provide the full coverage I’m looking for. I don’t mind that too much right now in the hot months but unfortunately it also tends to crease easily. I’ve been setting it with a face powder to prevent that but I don’t think I’ll get this concealer again. It works – but I think there are better ones out there.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Speaking of face powders, this is my favorite one to use. It looks incredibly natural on my skin (hence the name), prevents any cakey-ness and has lasted me for a very long time. I also have a darker Mineralize Skinfinish for contouring because I love their formulation that much. With having dry skin everything sticks to it quite easily and this powder doesn’t make me look “powdery” if that makes sense? I bought this one a few years ago and it still barely looks broken into. Definitely worth the money!

e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

I’m not going to lie that I mainly bought it because the name of the compact is St. Lucia and I actually went to St. Lucia… But – it’s really good! This looks best on tan skin because of all the shimmer that’s in the blush. The bronzing powder looks a lot darker in the pan and isn’t as scary as you’d think. You can easily build it up darker to get your desired bronzed look. Both colors are nicely pigmented and for the price of $3 you just can’t beat it. I mean seriously.

NARS Orgasm Blush

My go-to blush for every vacation I go on. It works on any skin tone and gives your cheeks a beautiful peachy pink tone. It’s a classic for a reason and belongs in any makeup collection in my opinion.

Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter

In my review on the Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter I talked about the Benefit Watt’s Up as it’s perfect for traveling. It’s a cream to powder highlighter than you can apply directly on to the tops of your cheeks or – in my case – put a bit of product on your finger and place it on that way. It’s dual ended with a small sponge application on the other side, making it easy to blend in. It’s a champagne color that reflects beautifully in the light and gives me that instant glow.

Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara

Remember when I decided to buy high-end mascaras on sale? Well this is the first one I’m trying out and I must say, I’m in love! I can’t remember the last time a mascara separated my lashes and held a curl this great in a long time. I’m still a drugstore mascara lover but it’s fun to venture out into the high-end mascaras and see what all the fuss is about. And now I get it. I have small eyes and this wand lifts my lashes from the bottom like no other. It creates volume while also separating and lengthening my lashes – truly eyes to kill.

Bobbi Brown Cement Eye Shadow

I use this with a tiny brush to fill in my eyebrows. Years ago a makeup artist used this on me and I’ve loved it ever since. It’s long lasting and the grey brown shade matches my natural hair perfectly. I don’t even have to set it with brow gel, it’s that good!

NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliners

After I did the review on the Via Veneto eyeliner I went out and got a turquoise blue color named Abbey Road. I love the vibrant pop of color and think it’s fun to switch it up from my nude color range.

Sephora Luster Matte in Petal

I’m all about the pinky mauve tones because I think those suit my complexion best. I actually wore this Luster Matte on my wedding day and let me tell you, it held up! It stains your lips, is matte but not drying and is very opaque. I highly recommend checking out this range as it’s super affordable, offers plenty of different colors to choose from and feels great on the lips.

YSL Vernis A Levre in Coral

My go-to shade for serious summer lips. Bright coral but not in a crazy orange way.  It applies sheer but is build-able and truly stains your lips. A coral lip is a must have for me on a beach vacation and this one has been with me through several of them. YSL is a more expensive brand but they are by far my favorite when it comes to lip products.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Hydrangea

I got this bright pink lipstick upon a recommendation from a friend and normally I would never go for this bright of a color. But – I’m trying to switch things up and get a bit out of my makeup comfort zone. I haven’t worn it that much yet because I’m slightly terrified but it looks great in the summer. It’s very creamy and I love that I can do one coat for a more subtle look or build it up further for a serious pink lip.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Caress Wet Shine

I can’t go on vacation without packing some sort of red lip. My favorite combination right now is filling in my lips with the MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry and then applying the L’Oreal Wet Shine in Endless Red. It’s also a stain lip gloss and helps lock in the color of the lip pencil. It’s a sheer lip gloss so it’s perfect to have on top of a lip pencil without having to deal with a lipstick.

That is all the makeup I packed for my beach vacation! Since I barely wear makeup on beach vacations I tried not to pack too many things – but – a girl needs options! Tell me, what makeup do you like to bring on vacation?
