Over the last couple of weekends Greg and I have been going on a lot of coffee dates. Aside of the fact that we both love coffee, it’s become one of my favorite things to do. Whether it’s grabbing a cup of coffee with a friend and partner, a coffee date is a more relaxed atmosphere. It’s not as expensive as eating out for lunch or dinner somewhere. There’s still a little sweet (or savory) treat involved, and you can dress up or down for it.
As we’re recent homeowners, we love spending time at home. Coupled with that we’re serious homebodies, grabbing a cup of coffee is the perfect amount of time out of the house. There are so many great coffee spots in Alexandria and you can check out a few of my favorites here. We recently discovered a new spot in walking distance from our house and although tiny, it serves coffee and that’s all that matters!
When you go for a coffee date, you can really connect with the other person. There’s no loud music or alcohol to distract you. Instead, you simply enjoy your company and talk about anything that comes to mind. Plus there’s the added bonus of sitting outside or taking it to go! You can walk around, people watch, look at cute dogs (my personal favorite), get some exercise and Vitamin D.
In a world where we’re all so “busy” – my friend Ashlee wrote a great post about that here – coffee dates are the perfect social engagement. It can be a quick coffee date if you’re in a hurry. Or it can be a 3 hour coffee date with your friend who you haven’t seen in ages. That’s why coffee dates are the best! The possibilities are endless… Do you enjoy grabbing a cup of coffee with your loved one?
